We are proud to put our dedicated mountain bike heroes in the spotlight! They don’t just ride countless kilometers—they pedal for a greater cause: research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Get to know their passion, motivation, and personal stories. Because together, we make a difference!

Who am I?

I’m Roel Cuylaerts, recently joined as a rider with the Go for Lander team. In 2025, I’ll be cycling for the very first time in this event – an exciting challenge that I’m eager to take on.

What motivates me?

In my (in-law) family, we have our own history with muscle disease (my mother-in-law and two sisters-in-law had/have Steinert’s disease), so I clearly see the needs and challenges of such patients. Anything I can do to contribute, I’m happy to do.

I also live with diabetes myself, and I see the difference between a condition that, with the right treatment, allows you to live almost without limitations, and something like Duchenne – where patients constantly have to fight against huge obstacles.

On top of that, I love nothing more than doing sports in the open air, so the chance to contribute by doing something I’m passionate about is a true no-brainer.
