We are proud to put our dedicated mountain bike heroes in the spotlight! They don’t just ride countless kilometers—they pedal for a greater cause: research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Get to know their passion, motivation, and personal stories. Because together, we make a difference!

Who am I?

My name is Patrick Moons, and I participate in Duchenne Heroes as part of team "Go for Lander," an event that is very close to my heart. My introduction to Duchenne Heroes and our true hero, Lander, took place in 2014 during a presentation about Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This presentation opened my eyes to the daily challenges faced by people living with this disease. It deeply moved me, and I felt a strong urge to contribute.

What motivates you?

Duchenne Heroes is a seven-day mountain bike journey that raises funds for research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Participating in this event is my way of contributing to the fight against this devastating disease. It is not just a physical challenge but also an emotional journey. Every kilometer I ride, I do so with the children and families affected by Duchenne in mind.

What inspires me most is the determination and resilience of the people I have met within the Duchenne community. Their stories of courage and hope motivate me to keep going, even when the ride gets tough. Moreover, Duchenne Heroes offers an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and work together toward a common goal.

My participation in Duchenne Heroes is a way to raise awareness and funds for a better future for everyone affected by Duchenne. I am grateful for the support of friends, family, and sponsors who make this possible. Together, we can make a difference.
